Eugen Varzic is a multi-talented artist hailing from Istria, Croatia. He graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka in 1999 and has since exhibited at over 30 solo exhibitions and 100 group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. His work has been recognized and awarded several times for its artistic creativity and can be found in public and private collections across Croatia and the world, as well as in sacred venues.
In addition to his painting, Varzic has also created two public sculptures made in mosaic technique and has painted wall murals in Umag. He has even dabbled in design, illustration, and teaching art workshops. In 2008, one of his works, entitled “Eve (Enfer et Paradis),” was included in the Lexikon of Fantastic and Contemporary Art of Europe and was also featured in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Fantasy Art in Vienna.
Varzic’s artist statement reflects his deep connection to his art, which he sees as a way of communicating with the world and expressing himself. He seeks to create works that challenge the viewer’s comfort zone and leave them questioning the possible. Music serves as a major source of inspiration for Varzic, and he paints in the same way he breathes – with a constant sense of change and evolution.
