Conor Harringtonireland
Conor Harrington, is a master of combining classical and contemporary elements in his art. Born in 1980 in Cork, Ireland, he attended Limerick School of Art and Design and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002.
Conor’s work often features realistic images of people, incorporating abstract elements to complement the painted subject. His depiction of the human form is striking, using bold lines, excellent shading, and bursts of color to focus on certain aspects of the figure while obscuring others. Conor also has a more subdued side to his art, using a darker color palette to convey his message to the viewer.
One of the key themes in Conor’s work is the “gender crisis” and the conflicts found in the modern male identity. He frequently portrays these issues in his art, using unconventional, contemporary techniques while also paying homage to the classical human form. This balance between the ethereal and the real allows his art to be both revolutionary and historically significant.
In addition to his paintings and murals, Conor has also experimented with other forms of art, such as the use of costumes and military re-enactment enthusiasts in his 2008 exhibition “Weekend Warriors.” This ability to blend the old and the new is what makes Conor’s work so memorable and thought-provoking.
Conor has held solo and group shows in London and New York, and his street pieces can be found in cities around the world, including Paris, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Aalborg, Mallorca, Sao Paulo, and San Juan Bethlehem Wall. Currently based in East London, Conor works primarily from his studio, using his art to deliver important commentary on today’s society.
