Tayla Broekman is a visual artist based in Melbourne, Australia. With a background in visual arts, illustration, and creative product development, Broekman has exhibited her work in a number of group shows both nationally and internationally, as well as having had three solo exhibitions.

In her studio, Broekman primarily uses gouache and acrylic paint to create illustrative human and animal characters. For her murals, she employs acrylic house paint and spray paint, drawing on her experience in sign writing to inform her mural practice.

Broekman’s work features pop surreal female characters and animals who often reflect her experiences and emotions through a narrative. While her concepts are expressed subconsciously, her paintings explore themes of connection to oneself and others, spirituality, and love. The use of bold, contrasting colors in her work is a key feature, adding striking visual impact to each piece.
